Chinese tech giant Xiaomi shipped more than 16.97 million smart wearables domestically in 2018, up 20.5 percent year-on-year, ranking No. 1 among all vendors in China, new data released by market research company IDC shows.
A total of 73.21 million units of smart wearables, including smart watches, bracelets, and earphones, were shipped in China, up by 28.5% year-on-year.
Xiaomi’s shipment accounted for 23.2% of the entire smart wearable market in China, a little lower than the 24.7% market share in 2017. Huawei followed with a shipment of 9.28 million units, increasing 136.1% year-on-year and making up 12.7% of the entire market. Huawei’s market share in 2017 was only 6.9%.
Apple ranked third with a shipment of 8.2 million units, taking a market share of 11.2%, a little lower than the 11.7% slice in 2017. However, for Apple itself, the shipment still represented a 23.3% year-on-year growth.
