Vietnamese ride-hailer FastGo launches helicopter rides for tourism

Vietnamese ride-hailing firm FastGo announced plans to launch the country’s first helicopter ride-sharing service in Hanoi this month, reports VnExpress International.

Called FastSky, the new ride option lets passengers book sears to fly from Hanoi to tourist destinations in the north of Vietnam such as the Red River and Ha Long Bay. Aside from the focus on tourism, FastSky also wants to provide services for wedding photography and medical emergencies as well as for businesspeople looking to reduce traveling time.

FastGo provides the technology platform while collaborating with a licensed partner who will provide the helicopters and pilots. The first flight is scheduled to take off on April 25, CEO of FastGo Nguyen Huu Tuat told VnExpress International.

Singaporean company Ascent Urban had recently launched a helicopter ride-sharing service in the bid to address traffic congestion in the Philippines, targeting business travelers. Both Grab and Uber tested helicopter rides temporarily in some Southeast Asian megacities, but this service never became a regular ride option.
