UK allows Huawei to help build 5G network

United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May has allowed Chinese telecoms giant Huawei to take part in building the country’s 5G network. Huawei will supply antennas and other “non-core” infrastructure, reported The Telegraph on Tuesday.

This decision echoes previous reports that cited the UK’s intelligence head as saying the country might take a soft stance on Huawei, despite it being banned by the United States over security concerns.

British intelligence previously concluded that the risks associated with using Huawei’s equipment in 5G networks can be managed.
