[Tuning In] Sean Low on taboo in men’s health and how machismo shouldn’t get in the way for men to feel their best

Sean Low is an entrepreneur who is passionate about finding solutions for problems that are often overlooked. Before starting Noah, he was the product lead at an Australian startup that is changing the end-of-life experience. He wants to bring about social change in healthcare, and believes that the use of technology coupled with good design can achieve better accessibility and improve the overall healthcare experience.

The following interview has been edited for brevity and clarity.

KrASIA (Kr): Can you give us more color on Noah and why you built a health platform?

Sean Low (SL): Noah is a digital health clinic. We are providing online medical evaluation, discreet delivery of medication and ongoing care for ED, PE, hair loss & more. I’m going to be upfront about this. I had my own brush with erectile dysfunction (ED), not too long ago, and that’s what kick-started the idea, When it first happened to me, I was really shocked, confused, and frustrated. How could it be possible? Wasn’t I too young?

That’s when I did what every other 25-year-old would do—I consulted Dr. Google. From there, I went down a rabbit hole of treatment options and clinics. It wasn’t until I mustered up the courage to ask a doctor friend did I find that it was actually normal for guys to go soft at times. This could be caused by stress, changing positions, and psychology.

This brush with ED made two things apparent to me: there’s a general lack of understanding and conversation around common men’s health issues in Singapore, and there’s a need for a more discreet, affordable, and convenient way of getting treatment, which is why we started Noah. We are not looking to supplant existing service models. There will always be people who prefer face-to-face consultations, and that’s where physical clinics come in. With Noah, our role in healthcare for the nation is different. We believe that telemedicine can decrease the embarrassment, costs, and inconveniences associated with getting treatment.
