Three Malaysian tech companies propose joint initiative for local F&B businesses

Three Malaysian tech firms—POS system provider Cuscapi, lifestyle app Presto, and food delivery app Hungry—have teamed up to offer a cloud-powered F&B management tool, called Custory. The partnership aims to help local food and beverages providers manage operations—from order to delivery—more efficiently, the companies said in a media release.

Custory allows customers to make table reservations, place take-away orders, or have their food delivered directly at home. Adding the cashless payment component, the app is designed to let diners regain confidence by reducing contact and infection risks.

Cuscapi facilitates real-time access to restaurant data, and enables restaurant managers to create a digital menu for both dine-in and online orders on the app. Customers can avoid long queues, while dine-in customers reduce waiting time by ordering via QR Code from the table, the statement says.

Presto brings in a network of e-wallet, credit card and bank partners for the cashless payment option, as well as a database of over 10 million users. Hungry counts on over 7,000 registered riders serving 14,000 merchants in 15 major cities. F&B operators will also be able to integrate their own delivery services.

The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) lauded the collaboration as it helps local businesses in difficult times. “The partnership is well aligned with the government’s economic recovery plan, calling businesses to accelerate their digitalization efforts,” said Gopi Ganesalingam, VP of MDEC’s growth acceleration division.

Custory will be rolled out in phases from July 2020, and it targets to have more than 1,000 F&B operators on board by the end of this year.
