Taiwan e-commerce group PChome launches service in Southeast Asia

Taiwan e-commerce firm PChome Online is partnering with Southeast Asian e-commerce platforms and launching PChomeSEA, a cross-border e-commerce service, the company announced on Wednesday. The local brands taking part are Vietnam’s Tiki, Singapore’s Qoo10, Indonesia’s Blibli, and Malaysia’s Youbeli.

“This alliance will boost the visibility of Taiwanese products, further differentiate our partners in the respective local markets, and create a mutually-benefiting Southeast Asian e-commerce ecology,” said Jan Hung-tze, chairman of PChome Online. The partner platforms will launch a PChomeSEA section on their own sites, allowing Southeast Asian consumers to purchase Taiwanese products.

PChome Online was founded in Taiwan in 1996. It has since grown to be one of the leading e-commerce groups in the country, launching multiple platforms such as PChome24h Shopping, a B2C shopping site with 24-hour delivery, and web payment service PChomePay.

The firm has faced fierce competition from major players such as Shopee. Its further expansion into Southeast Asia follows previous efforts overseas, such as the launch of PChome Thai in 2016 and an alliance with Japanese firm Rakuten in 2019.
