Indian budget hotel chain OYO Hotels and Homes has appointed today Alfian Lim as its new country head for Indonesia, replacing Rishabh Gupta, who is moving to another strategic position within the firm’s global operation, said the company.
Mandar Vaidya, the firm’s CEO for Southeast Asia & Middle East said that Indonesia is a strategic market for OYO, and added that the company has been actively recruiting cross-industry local talent to join the OYO’s leadership team.
“When we started our business a year ago, we were here to run a long term business. We are committed to building OYO in Indonesia as a global company but still maintaining our values and the local approach since we believe this is the right strategy to be successful in the Indonesia’s market. The appointment of Alfian Lim as the country head in Indonesia will strengthen our commitment,” Vaidya said in the press statement.
Newly appointed Lim said that the demand for budget and mid hotels is increasing in Indonesia, driven by the traveling trend, the increasing middle-class population, and the infrastructure development.
“I am proud to be part of the big family of OYO in Indonesia. I am ready to support OYO to continue its mission to create a better quality of living in all cities in Indonesia,” Lim said.
OYO recently announced the allocation of USD 100 million to be invested in Indonesia to strengthen its presence in the country. The amount represents half of OYO’s intended USD 200 million investment in Southeast Asia to be channeled within the next two years. Today, the company says it partners with over 1,000 hotels and 41,200 rooms spread in over 100 cities in Indonesia.
