Klook appoints its first CCO in bid to expand global footprint

Klook, a Hong Kong-headquartered travel activities booking platform, appointed Wilfred Fan as its first Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) as part of its plan to expand globally. The new CCO will focus on developing destination services and providing support for Klook’s merchants, Klook said in a press release.

Prior to joining Klook, Fan was the VP of global partnerships at Agoda and had held several senior positions in the travel industry.

As Klook’s CCO, Fan will also be responsible for deepening merchant and operator relations, explore new business opportunities and product offerings as well as optimise supply operations. Alongside the existing leadership team at Klook, Fan will help set the overall strategy for the company.

Having recently raised a total of US$300 million from a long list of investors like Sequoia China, TCV, Matrix Partners and Goldman Sachs, Klook is now one of the most-funded startups in the tour and activities industry. It has over 80,000 offerings in more than 250 destinations and says it will continue to grow.

Fan’s appointment coincided with Klook’s plan to expand globally against the backdrop of an extremely fragmented industry. Next to direct competitors like KKDay and Viator, more general online travel sites like Traveloka, whose main business is flight tickets and hotels, and even Airbnb are also expanding their services to cover travel activities and attraction tickets.
