Indonesia’s online catering company Yummy Corp raises USD 7.75 million in Series A

Jakarta-based online catering company Yummy Corp reportedly raised USD 7.75 million in a Series A funding round from SMDV (Sinarmas Digital Ventures) and Intudo Ventures, participated by East Ventures, AgaetiVentures, Sovereign’s Capital, and Selera Kapital by Sour Sally Group.

The company will utilize the fresh cash to expand its business and services, including adding more kitchens, partners, and clients, said the firm.

Yummy Corp provides food solutions for corporate and group clients. The firm is an affiliate of Indonesia’s Ismaya Group, one of the country’s largest F&B and entertainment conglomerate in the country, which has 70 establishments operating across Indonesia, Singapore, Shanghai, and Dubai.

In May 2019, Yummy Corp fully acquired Berrykitchen —a pioneer firm in the Indonesian online catering space—for an undisclosed amount. After the acquisition, Berrykitchen merged into one of Yummy Corp’s business units, an online catering operator called Yummybox app, and the company announced its intentions to become the largest catering service provider in Indonesia.

Besides Yummybox, the company also runs other business units, such as food service management for corporate clients, where it provides employers’ catering on a daily basis. The company also manages corporate branded outlets where it develops and operates custom-branded restaurants and cafes according to clients requirements.

Yummy Corp additionally operates a network of cloud central kitchens called Yummy Kitchen, aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to expand their business. SMEs that partners with Yummy Corp can utilize all the facilities in these kitchens.

Today, Yummy Corp operates 25 cloud kitchen locations in the Greater Jakarta Area. With this investment, Yummy Corp is targeting200 locations for the year 2020 across Jakarta and other major cities in Indonesia.

Besides Yummy Corps, other players in Indonesia’s online catering space are Monk’s Hill Venture-backed Kulina and online healthy food delivery startup Gorry Gourmet. These startups also indirectly competing with GoFood and GrabFood, which are the two biggest food delivery platforms in the country today.
