Indonesian Tokopedia launches service to bridge online and offline retailing

Indonesian online marketplace Tokopedia officially launched on Thursday Mitra Tokopedia, an app that lets everyone especially small business owners, such as grocery stores, warung (stalls), and individual sellers, to sell digital products on the app, including data packages, electricity tokens, game vouchers, etc.

With the app, Tokopedia looks to provide a solution for traditional retailer to participate in the digital world, bridging the physical stores and e-commerce。

The use of the app is very easy and hassle-free. After installing the app, users are required to verify their data and uploading ID photo. They need to top up their balance on Saldo Mitra for transactions.

Saldo Mitra is an escrow account that serves as a temporary shelter facility for Tokopedia partners’ fund for transactions within the app.

Mitra Tokopedia app is available throughout Indonesia with 7×24 hour customer service. The app also lets small business to buy wholesale goods to restock their shops. This feature is ready in limited areas for now but will be more available in the next few months.
