Halodoc, the Indonesian health tech platform that’s part of Gojek’s ecosystem of apps, announced that it raised additional funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Prudential, and Allianz +, according to a report on Indonesian tech news site DailySocial.
This is part of Halodoc’s ongoing Series B financing round first announced in March, at which point the startup raised USD 65 million led by UOB Venture Management. The amount raised from the new investors was not disclosed.
The platform offers services like online consultations with licensed doctors, prescription deliveries, and a means to book lab tests. Founded in 2016, the platform raised USD 13 million in September 2016, led by Singapore-based VC Clermont Group. That round was also joined by the Indonesian on-demand services platform Gojek, which works together with Halodoc on medicine delivery.
Halodoc CEO said that the incoming strategic investors would help raise the quality and number of services offered on Halodoc especially for those living outside of Indonesia’s main metropolitan areas, according to DailySocial.
Indonesia’s health tech and med tech sectors are still in the early days of development. Armed with close to USD 100 million in venture capital, Halodoc might be the best-funded startup in this category in the country so far. However, the c0-founder and former CTO of popular travel booking app Tiket.com, which was acquired in 2017, said he is about to launch an ambitious health tech business in Indonesia in the coming months.
