Indonesian edtech Codemi raises seed funding from Init 6

The Indonesia-based edtech startup Codemi on Wednesday announced that it has raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding. The fresh capital comes from Init 6, a VC founded by Bukalapak’s co-founder and former CEO Achmad Zaky, who’s also joining the startup’s board.

Founded in 2013, Codemi is focusing on cloud-based learning, while working with corporations to provide online training for their employees. Through the platform, participants can take classes and exams, while administrators are able to manage the program and content, as well as check on reports and conduct analysis. Codemi currently has 55,000 users from 12 different companies including Frisian Flag, Manulife, and Ranch Market.

The startup said it will utilize the funding to improve product development and enhance the platform’s security infrastructure.

Codemi is also rolling out new products, namely ‘instructor-led learning’ for both online and offline, ‘collaborative learning,’ where employees have the opportunity to learn together to create discussions, as well as ‘on the job learning,’ where employees can practice training materials directly.

“We believe that the closing of our seed series funding amidst the pandemic is a sign that the market and industry have confidence in our growth,” said Zaki Falimbany, founder and CEO of Codemi in a statement.
