Short video app TikTok announced on April 9 it will dedicate USD 375 million to COVID-19 relief funds and initiatives in an effort to support medical workers, local communities, and businesses which are affected by the pandemic.
The commitment includes USD 250 million in cash distributed initiatives for frontline healthcare workers, organizations helping communities, and creators of distance learning educational content.
Further measures include USD 25 million in free ad space on the app to organizations delivering crucial public health information and USD 100 million in ad credits to help small and mid-sized businesses looking to rebuild.
“Looking ahead, TikTok will be actively seeking more ways to contribute, including identifying the most effective ways to allocate these remaining funds to support ongoing relief needs,” the company said in the announcement.
