Paris-headquartered fashion and cosmetics giant Dior has partnered with China’s largest photo editing and beautifying app Meitu (HKG: 1357), to unveil an AI-powered skin-testing tool called Dior Skin ID.
Users of Meitu Xiuxiu, the app’s China version, can use the Dior Skin ID tool inside the app to generate an analysis report of their skin based on their face. The app then directs users to Dior’s Chinese website to purchase corresponding skincare products.
This tool is not available in Meitu’s overseas app, eponymously called Meitu. These two apps combined had 116.4 million monthly active users on average in 2019, according to the company’s annual report.
Meitu has released its in-house developed AI virtual makeup system, named Cosmetic Promotion Assistant to international clients to help them boost cosmetics sales, KrASIA reported last month.
