China-based AR solution provider HiScene raises USD 35 million in Series C

Shanghai-headquartered augmented reality (AR) solution provider HiScene raised RMB 250 million (USD 35 million) in its Series C financing, 36Kr reported Tuesday.

An investment fund under state-owned finance giant Shanghai International Group is the major investor for this round, with previous investors including Shanghai Panxi Capital Management Co.,Ltd also joining.

The Series C round announcement comes only three months after HiScene closed a RMB 120 million (USD 17.7 million) Series B+round in May.

The new funds will be used for R&D and the commercialization of its current solutions.

When announcing this new funding, HiScene also unveiled a platform called HiAR Workplace, which integrates AR hardware such as AR glasses together with an information transmission and coordination system called HiLeia and HiAR Cloud.

The company claimed that it has more than 1,000 paying clients in sectors such as manufacturing and public security surveillance, including home appliance maker Gree and the Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau.
