Ajey Gore resigns as CTO of Gojek

Ajey Gore has departed from Gojek, vacating from the company’s CTO seat after working for the Indonesia-based firm for five years.

“Ajey has decided to leave the company and take a personal break after an intense five years of growing Gojek into a platform that impacts the lives of millions of people daily,” Kevin Aluwi, co-CEO of Gojek said in a press statement.

Aluwi added that Gore built and mentored the Gojek engineering team, shaping it into the strong unit that it is today. The co-CEO said that Gore will leave Gojek’s next phase of growth in capable hands.

Gore joined Gojek as head of engineering in June 2015 in Bengaluru. He then took on the mantle of group CTO in January 2016, leading Gojek’s engineering team in Singapore, Jakarta, and Bengaluru.

Prior to taking on leadership positions at Gojek, Gore was a serial entrepreneur and business leader in India.

He was the former head of technology at ThoughtWorks and CTO at Hoppr before he co-founded several companies and a nonprofit organization called Innovation and Technology Trust, which brings technical innovation and expertise to India. He was the co-founder of social media marketing firm SoLoMo Media, and also the CEO and founder of CodeIgnition, a startup that helps other companies build, automate, and scale solutions.

CodeIgnition was acquired by Gojek in January 2016.

Gore’s resignation was announced less than two weeks after Gojek raised new funding from Facebook, PayPal, and other investors.
