Early-stage venture capital fund Accelerating Asia on Tuesday announced the eight startups that form its third cohort. The businesses, that come from sectors such as energy, transportation, healthcare, and cleantech, will be part of a 100-day virtual program and receive an upfront investment of SGD 50,000 (USD 36,636). The top performing startup will get up to SGD 150,000 (USD 109,908) after completion.
The program, which targets pre-Series A startups, seeks to identify high-impact and high-potential companies from all sectors across the region and boost their growth, according to the organizer. Companies are set to pitch their products to a wider audience in a virtual demo day, scheduled in November 2020.
These are the participating startups in Accelerating Asia’s latest cohort:
- AskDr is a consumer-facing health information platform aiming to make reliable health information more accessible to the public by connecting them to verified doctors.
- Energy Lite is a virtual project development platform that enables energy investors to finance aggregated small and medium solar projects.
- KaryaKarsa helps online creators display and paywall their creative works and services to their fan communities, through its ‘direct to the fans’ monetization platform.
- Kinexcs supports faster recovery and delivers personalized health and fitness. The data-driven startup connects clinics to patients, enabling evidence-based recovery and quality care for musculoskeletal patients.
- MyBrand is a social marketplace for food providing an integrated app-based platform for home-based culinary businesses and cloud kitchen brands to reach out to a wider mass, beyond what social media and messaging apps could conventionally do.
- ProjectPro is a work automation platform that helps data scientists get their projects done faster.
- Shuttle is a mass-transit startup based in Bangladesh that provides safe transportation at an affordable fare by moving more people with fewer vehicles catering to both B2B and B2C customers.
- WeavAir’s advanced sensors and predictive analytics deliver a proactive end-to-end solution for air distribution systems to prevent the spread of contamination and infection, while reducing operational and maintenance costs for building and fleet managers.
Launched in 2018, the Singapore-based venture capital firm is at the core of a community of more than 48 founders from 28 startups across nine countries. The 19 companies from the previous two cohorts have raised a sum of over SGD 5 million (USD 3.5 million) while participating in Accelerating Asia’s program. Accelerating Asia is part of Enterprise Singapore’s Startup SG network.
