Machine learning paves the way for Gojek-backed startups: Early Stage

Machine learning plays a crucial role in Gojek’s ability to complete millions of daily orders for more than 20 different products and services.

In a panel discussion that was held during its accelerator program demo day, Gojek’s co-founder Kevin Aluwi said that the platform has developed machine learning-based technology to ensure a balance between the number of drivers and the high level of demand in an area.

The system has also been applied to the GoFood menu label management process. With machine learning, customers are able to quickly locate the food they want. This is because GoFood automatically displays personalized menus according to the habits and preferences of each customer. The system also benefits GoFood’s merchants as they can create more targeted promotions. Gojek said that their platform increases turnover by 3.5 times for merchants.

As part of Gojek’s commitment to support the startup industry in Indonesia and Asia, the company has shared its knowledge and expertise in machine learning with the five startups chosen to take part in the “Gojek Xcelerate Accelerator Powered by Digitaraya – Machine Learning Batch”.

The startups are from the first batch of the Gojek Xcelerate program launched in September.
