Gojek enters wellness sector by launching GoFitness feature

Gojek is tapping into the wellness sector by launching a new feature called GoFitness in collaboration with fitness startup Doogether. The service allows users to book a session at one of the hundreds of fitness studios in Greater Jakarta via Gojek’s app. The move is in line with the company’s observations that its users are seeking means to maintain healthy lifestyles.

Since the beginning of 2019, approximately 11,000 GoRide users have traveled to the gym each month, while GoFood has received 600,000 orders for healthy meals per month, Gojek said in a press statement.

With the roll-out of GoFitness, Gojek is creating a fuller wellness experience for its users. The features gives users access to tens of thousands of gym classes for yoga, pilates, barre, muay thai, Zumba, and more. Class fees can be paid for using Gojek’s digital wallet GoPay.

GoFitness is currently only available for users in Jakarta, but it will gradually expand its fitness studio database to Bandung and Bali, two locations where Doogether operates.

In the past year, Gojek has been expanding its lifestyle offerings to give users more reasons to use its app. The company previously launched on-demand video streaming service GoPlay, hotel booking feature GoTravel, and e-commerce feature GoMall.

The development and launch of GoFitness further shows that the wellness sector has been attracting attention in Indonesia’s digital industry. Earlier this month, Intudo Ventures, Agaeti Ventures, and Sinar Mas Digital Ventures (SMDV) co-invested USD 1.25 million in R Fitness. In July, East Ventures-backed The Fit Company acquired three local wellness startups.
