Prada Group continues push into China with JD.com partnership

Italian fashion house Prada Group has launched three of its brands—Prada, Miu Miu, and Car Shoe—on JD.com, Tech QQ reports.

The partnership arrives during JD’s “618 Shopping Festival,” an 18-day celebration of consumerism with discounts and promotions in June.

Last year, the online retailer logged RMB 159.2 billion (USD 25 billion) in orders during the festival, up 37% from 2017.

Meanwhile, Prada is steadily growing its presence in China’s digital space. This is its second partnership in less than two weeks with a Chinese e-commerce company, following its tie-up with luxury-focused platform Secoo at the end of May.

Unsurprisingly, Secoo’s investors include JD, which supports the former’s logistics and delivery services.

Driven by a rising middle class, China’s luxury goods market is expected to reach RMB 1.2 trillion (USD 180 billion) in 2025 and account for 65% of the sector’s global growth, according to a McKinsey report.
