KEY STAT | Didi reports 60 million daily trips globally for 2020

Didi Chuxing, the world’s biggest ride-hailing platform, said that it operated 60 million trips per day in the past year, which include taxis, bike-sharing rides, and other means of transportation ordered through the app.

The total number of users and drivers combined reached 600 million. In April, the company vowed to increase the international monthly active user base to 800 million by 2022. For comparison, Uber says on its website that it operates 21 million trips a day, with 111 million monthly active users in Q4 2019.

“Globally, over 4 million drivers and couriers registered to use Didi’s platform in 2020, many of whom were looking for extra income opportunities to tackle the challenges arising from the pandemic,” said the release.

In order to combat COVID-19, the Beijing-based company has distributed 11 million masks and sanitizers to their drivers and arranged 1 million protective dividers that have been installed between driver and passenger seats to prevent infection.

With the six new nations it entered in 2020—namely Panama, Russia, Peru, New Zealand, the Dominican Republic, and Argentina—Didi now has business in 13 overseas markets, while Uber is available in 69 countries.
